Cardinals Vs. Astros Final Score: St. Louis Falls To Houston 9-8

The St. Louis Cardinals scored four runs in the ninth inning to forge a valiant comeback, but it wasn't enough as St. Louis lost to the Houston Astros 9-8 on Tuesday night. The Cards fall to .500, 28-28, with the loss, while Houston moves to 24-31.

Cards starter Jamie Garcia was chased after just two innings after allowing five hits and six earned runs. The St. Louis bullpen would only allow two earned runs over the rest of the night, but it wasn't good enough.

The Astros ran out to a 6-0 lead after two innings, highlighted by a two-run homer from center fielder Justin Maxwell.

Leadoff hitter Jose Altuve finished 4-for-5 with three runs in the win for Houston.

Matt Adams and Rafael Furcal each homered in the loss for St. Louis.
