Cardinals Vs. Astros Preview: St. Louis Looks For Second Win In 8 Games

After a tough loss on Tuesday, the St. Louis Cardinals once again face up against the Houston Astros on Wednesday night in a battle of NL Central teams. Having lost six of their past seven games, the Cardinals are hoping that Adam Wainwright can help to get the team back on track.

Returning from Tommy John surgery, consistency has been an obvious issue for Wainwright in the early part of the 2012 campaign. In his most recent start on June 1, he allowed seven runs over 6.1 innings against the Mets, but his preceding two starts consisted of 15 innings of one-run ball, including a shutout of the Padres.

At one point, the Cardinals were sitting pretty with a 20-11 record, but things have fallen apart since then. Over their past 25 games, St. Louis has posted a brutal 8-17 record, dropping into third place in the division.

Game Date & Time: Tuesday, June 5, 7:05 p.m. CT

Location: Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX

TV: Fox Sports Midwest
