Cardinals Vs. Pirates Score Update: St. Louis Avoids Sweep With 5-4 Win

After dropping the first two games in their key Central Division series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the St. Louis Cardinals knew it was key to avoid a sweep. Thanks to a gutty performance from Jake Westbrook, the Cardinals were able to do just that, as they came out with a 5-4 victory.

Westbrook certainly didn't have his best stuff, allowing nine hits in six innings, but he was able to limit the Pirates to just four runs. The St. Louis lineup was able to knock around Erik Bedard, who gave up five earned runs in just 4.2 innings on the mound.

Matt Holliday delivered a key double in the fifth inning, which tied the game at four following a four-run inning from the Pirates. Shane Robinson knocked in the game-winning run with a single later in the inning.
