Dodgers Vs. Cardinals Final Score: Los Angeles Earns 5-3 Victory In Series Opener

The St. Louis Cardinals couldn't keep momentum moving after a weekend sweep of the Chicago Cubs, falling 5-3 at Busch Stadium to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday. The loss drops the Cards to 50-46. The Dodgers move to 53-44.

St. Louis got on the board first when Lance Berkman roped an RBI single to right field to score John Jay. Los Angeles would take the lead for good in the second when Luis Cruz hit a three-run homer, his second of the season.

The Dodgers added to their lead in the seventh when second baseman Mark Ellis drove in two runs with a double. Carlos Beltran added a two-run homer for St. Louis in the eighth, his 22nd of the season, but Kenley Jansen nailed down his 19th save of the season to give LA the victory.
