The St. Louis Cardinals currently trail the Cincinnati Reds by seven games in the NL Central. If the Cards are going to go on a patented second half tear to get into the postseason, the start of a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies offers a good chance to get the team back to its winning ways.
Colorado comes in at 37-63, owners of the second worst winning percentage in the majors. With the Cards entering after an off-day following back-to-back losses vs. the lowly Chicago Cubs, perhaps a series with the punchless Rockies is exactly what the team needs.
Kyle Lohse is scheduled to start for St. Louis in the series opener on Tuesday. Lohse is 10-2 this season with a 2.71 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Jeff Francis will start for the Rockies. Francis is 3-2 with a 4.97 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 10 starts this season.
Game time: 7:40 CT
Location: Coors Field
