Cardinals Vs. Dodgers: St. Louis Looks to Build Wild Card Lead Over Los Angeles

The St. Louis Cardinals snapped a three-game losing streak and doubled their wild card lead to 2 games Thursday night. On Friday, they will look to build momentum and put further distance between themselves and the Dodgers when they face Los Angeles in the second game of a four-game series.

The Cardinals will turn to Joe Kelly. The rookie right-hander enters the game at 5-6 on the season with a 3.51 ERA. In a July 23 start against the Dodgers, Kelly went 6 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 4 hits in a Cardinals loss. Kelly has been solid recently, allowing more than 2 earned runs in just one of his last 6 appearances.

Los Angeles will send lefty Chris Capuano to the mound. The veteran Capuano is 11-10 in 29 starts this season, with a 3.59 ERA. In his most recent start, Capuano gave up 2 earned runs and 5 hits in a 7-inning no decision against San Francisco. St. Louis hit him hard in his one appearance against the Cardinals this season, scoring 6 runs on 11 hits in just 4 1/3 innings.

First pitch is set for 9:10 pm CT. Television coverage is available on Fox Sports Midwest, with radio coverage on KMOX 1120 AM.
