Every win counts late in the season as the Cardinals seek a spot in the 2012 playoffs, and beating teams like the Mets will help them get there.
In the first game of their series against New York, St. Louis had a late scare but was able to hang on. As a result, they hold the lead for the second NL Wild Card spot by a single game over the L.A. Dodgers.
Game 2 of the series will feature Jaime Garcia (3-6, 4.52) taking on Matt Harvey (3-3, 2.76 ERA) at Busch Stadium as the Cardinals seek their second win in a row. With the Dodgers right behind, winning the series against the Mets could be a crucial part of holding on to that NL Wild Card spot and eventually getting a chance to defend their MLB title in October.
The game will be at 7:15 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Missouri.
