Cardinals Vs. Brewers Game Recap: St. Louis Falls 6-3

the Pittsburgh Pirates lost again to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday, but the St. Louis Cardinals were not able to take advantage and gain some breathing room in the National League Wild Card race. Aramis Ramirez had a solo homer in the ninth and Milwaukee added a second insurance run on a Carlos Gomez single that scored Corey Hart in a 6-3 win over the Cards.

Mike Fiers earned his ninth win of the season for the Brewers by going five innings and striking out five while only giving up one earned run. The Cardinals tacked on single runs in the seventh and eighth, but they couldn't string together enough support for Jake Westbrook, who gave up three earned runs in five innings of work. Westbrook took the loss to fall to 13-11.

St. Louis stays two games ahead of Pittsburgh for the second and final NL Wild Card berth. They are also a half game ahead of the Dodgers.
