After a series of penalties left the Atlanta Falcons in awful field position Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams took advantage, taking two 25-yard passes to get downfield and into the end zone. The Rams now lead 7-0.
Laurent Robinson, who looked invisible as the season began, continued his strong play of late, getting open downfield for a 24-yard reception after coming out of nowhere to play a major role in Sam Bradford’s fourth quarter drive to force overtime. After a Steven Jackson rush—getting him over 10,000 yards from scrimmage for his career—Bradford found Michael Hoomanawanui just in front of the end zone for a 25-yard touchdown pass.
Bradford is 3-for-5 for 58 yards passing and one touchdown through the game’s first five minutes. Steven Jackson has three carries for four yards and the game’s other reception, a nine yard catch.
The Falcons will hope to avoid penalties in their next drive, as well as the Rams’ continued strong defense. In their first drives they’ve relied heavily upon Michael Turner.
