Randy Moss: St. Louis Rams Favored In Late Speculation

New, 2 comments

I'm still not going to suggest holding your breath, but it might not cause too much permanent damage now—multiple sources, among them Chris Mortenson, are reporting that the St. Louis Rams are the most likely destination for wide receiver Randy Moss. According to that report we'll know by 11:30 today.

The Rams certainly make sense from this Rams fan's perspective—as Pudge Rodriguez will tell you, the best way to rehabilitate your reputation as a mercenary or difficult teammate is to be seen "helping out" a young superstar, and if Moss is around for Sam Bradford's first four-touchdown performance I'm perfectly willing to help him take all the credit.

He'd be playing for a team on the way up, instead of on the way down; he'd be able to give it an eight game shot and go elsewhere if he didn't like playing in a smaller football market; he'd have as many targets as he could possibly want. If he has any desire to not be Randy Moss for once, for just half a football season, he'll find no better place to do that than the Edward Jones Dome.

The other rumor floating around this morning is that he'll land with the New York Jets—a report that he met with several members of the Jets unofficially has been floated and then denied over the last few hours. But if the Rams, at 4-4, choose to make a move, it doesn't matter whether he loves New Jersey—they're well ahead of the Jets on waiver priority.
