NFC West Update: New York Giants Hammer Seahawks In 21-Point First Quarter

The first-place Seattle Seahawks have found themselves in a world of hurt after the New York Giants scored 21 points in a wild first quarter; they trail the Giants 28-0 with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Giants have moved through the Seahawks’ defense without issue; Eli Manning is 11-for-14 with 161 yards passing and two touchdowns. Ahmad Bradshaw has eight rushes for two touchdowns of his own.

The Seahawks’ star kick returner Leon Washington fumbled a return deep in his own territory, setting Bradshaw up for his second touchdown of the afternoon. Charlie Whitehurst is making the second start of his career at quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, after Matt Hasselbeck suffered a concussion in last week’s loss to the Oakland Raiders. He’s 3-for-8 with five yards passing.

The Seahawks’ record stands at 4-3 in the wide-open NFC West. The St. Louis Rams, on a bye this week, could move into first place if the Seahawks drop to 4-4. The Arizona Cardinals lost a shocker to the Minnesota Vikings to fall out of a possible three-way tie at 4-4 earlier this afternoon.
