St. Louis Rams Score First With Field Goal, Lead Chiefs 3-0

The St. Louis Rams received the ball to start their Week 15 showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs and proceeded to strike first; Josh Brown’s 37-yard field goal puts the Rams ahead 3-0 with seven minutes to go in the first quarter, but without some untimely penalties that could have been seven points.

The Rams marched downfield like they were going to score a touchdown, but two false start penalties on third down scuttled a 6-for-7, 42 yard start for Sam Bradford and 34 total yards from Steven Jackson. Bradford hit five different receivers on this first drive, with Jackson, Daniel Fells, Laurent Robinson, Brandon Gibson, and Danny Amendola all getting in on the action early.

The Chiefs got the ball back at their own 14, which is where they’ll get the chance to see just how healthy quarterback Matt Cassel is. He completed his first pass of the afternoon to Jamaal Charles for nine yards, thereby confirming he’s starting, and that these are still the Kansas City Chiefs.
