Fantasy Football Tips Week 14: The Danario Alexander Tea Leaves

Danario Alexander has been healthy for two weeks in a row now, which is—to be honest— a little startling, but I can't blame fantasy football players for proving gun-shy in their second chance to pick up Sam Bradford's only big-play target. Alexander remains just 1.2% owned in ESPN fantasy leagues, stemming from questions not only about the health of his knee but the ways in which the St. Louis Rams are prepared to preserve that health.

In last week's 19-6 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, for instance, Alexander was targeted early but disappeared as the Rams appeared to pull ahead to stay. Against the Denver Broncos, with the Rams desperate for a win on the road and unable to put away the Broncos after a hot start, he still only played sparingly, but he saw the ball more frequently.

Next week the St. Louis Rams draw the New Orleans Saints, and it's fair to say that they won't be saving Alexander's legs on Sunday. If they're able to keep it close—certainly if they're able to take a lead—it will be because Bradford is getting downfield, and if he's doing that Alexander is probably involved. If you're in an especially deep league—and you have to be, if you're choosing among Rams receivers—now might be the time to get burned again by Danario Alexander.
