As the second quarter opened in Seattle the St. Louis Rams seemed to spontaneously remember their franchise’s all-time leading rusher, and Steven Jackson came alive to lead them into range for their first points of the night, a 32-yard field goal from Josh Brown. Jackson had four carries for 28 yards and picked up two receptions for 15 more, cutting the Rams’ deficit to 7-3 with nine minutes to go in the second quarter.
Jackson has appeared in all 16 games for just the second time in his seven-year NFL career, and with his second carry of this afternoon rushed for 1200 yards for the second consecutive season, the third of his career. His 45 receptions are the third-most of his career, and his 324 carries are the most in the NFL this season.
Sam Bradford looked more impressive in the second quarter than in the first, improving his numbers tonight to 8-for-14 for 82 yards passing. A quick pass to tight end Daniel Fells near the goal line narrowly averted a safety.
