Week 8 NFL Power Rankings: Rams Fall To No. 31 In Latest Rankings From Fox Sports

Thanks to the poor performance on Sunday Night Football from the Indianapolis Colts, the St. Louis Rams were able to stay out of the cellar in the latest NFL power rankings from Brian Billick at Fox Sports. While the 34-7 loss to Dallas this past week wasn't surprising, it was the fashion in which the Rams lost that forced Billick to rank the Rams at No. 31:

Giving up 253 yards rushing to a rookie who has done nothing up to this point will bring into serious question what the Rams are doing. Steve Spagnuolo's credentials will likely begin to be called into question, given his experience on the defensive side

As Billick points out, the declining performance of the St. Louis defensive line and linebacking core has been surprising. After showing signs of becoming a strong unit last season, the Rams have seen guys like Fred Robbins and Chris Long struggle to rediscover their form. Also, key free agents like Ben Leber and Brady Poppings have been unable to shore up the linebacking core.

Spagnulo and the Rams will face arguably the best offense in the NFL on Sunday when the Rams host the New Orleans Saints.
