SB Nation has released Week 17 NFL Power Rankings, and the St. Louis Rams have finally done enough to justify the move down one spot to No. 32 overall. Now it officially can't get any worse for a team that has been haunted by some shocking combination of injuries and poor play in 2011. Here is what Joel Thorman of SB Nation had to say about the move:
32. St. Louis Rams (2-13, LW: 31): A new name for the worst team in the league overtaking the Colts' strangehold on this spot. Christmas is over but the Rams' best present would be Jon Gruden in 2012.
Any move for Gruden seems linked to a tandem move for current San Diego Chargers GM A.J. Smith, but at least the organization is thinking about how to take their valuable draft position and turn it into the best hope for future success. A wholesale change seems like the best outcome after such a terrible showing in 2011 that leaves the franchise without a clear sense of direction.
