For many fantasy football leagues, Week 14 is either near or in the league postseason. With only three weeks remaining after Week 14's matchups, the pressure to find diamonds on the waiver wire is at its peek.
However, a quick look at the St. Louis Rams numberFire projections shows just how few secret weapons exist on that roster:
The Rams top three point-getters -- Steven Jackson, Sam Bradford and Brandon Lloyd -- are all well-known commodities at this point. After those three, the roster nosedives.
The St. Louis Rams defense will be going against the Seattle Seahawks offense that has score just 216 points this year (good for 26th most of the 32 NFL teams). The Rams, meanwhile, have actually put together a decent string of defensive performances, having not allowed 30 or more points since Week 7 while scoring two defensive touchdowns in that span.
However, the numberFire projections anticipate the Rams defense will only help owners in the mightiest of pinches. The Rams are unowned in over 90% of leagues, so for teams facing, say, the Green Bay Packers this week, maybe the Rams will work instead?
Meanwhile: Do not bite on the tempting allure that is Rams receiver corps. Danario Alexander, Austin Pettis and Brandon Gibson are probably all unowned in your league -- and Pettis and Gibson are coming off of multiple-receptions games. But numberFire foresees, at most, a 1.5 catch, 40-yard game from any one of these wideouts.
Owners looking for some handy waiver wire production in Week 14 should steer clear of the St. Louis Rams.
