One of the first memes of the St. Louis Rams' offseason goes something like this—Sam Bradford and Josh McDaniels haven't met yet. If there's a lockout, they won't be allowed to meet. So how will Sam Bradford learn that he's now allowed to throw the ball past the line of scrimmage? It remains a mystery.
↵The Post-Dispatch offers a partial solution today, in the form of Steve Spagnuolo's assurance that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. Not only (he suggests) is "scheming and coaching" "not rocket science", McDaniels hasn't quite ironed all the kinks out of the Rams' new offensive scheme, anyway.
↵Bradford is an NFL quarterback; Josh McDaniels is a highly regarded, highly paid offensive coordinator. I'm not especially worried about it. But I can't help but think that the Rams should consider staging some publicity photos of the two shaking hands and nodding seriously at a playbook, so as to tamp down the talk-radio furor before it really comes into vogue. Maybe some video of Bradford diagramming a route in mid-air, and McDaniels smiling, like, "Now that you've finally got this, the montage can end."
