2011 NFL Mock Draft: Blaine Gabbert Goes First In TST Mock

Turf Show Times's own Community 2011 NFL Mock Draft has started, and with their first pick these St. Louis Rams fans had the Carolina Panthers go with... Blaine Gabbert. Gabbert is a popular pick recently, as it becomes more and more clear that people expect the Panthers to end the Jimmy Clausen era early and choose a quarterback; he's not quite as high-profile a pick as Cam Newton, but he's also less likely to become a schadenfreude magnet, which is important for a team that just drafted Jimmy Clausen.

Since then they've taken Patrick Petersen and Von Miller off the board. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the run-up to the Rams pick, since these guys have been following the Mock Draft tea-leaves so closely all year. Will Julio Jones go to the Washington Redskins? Will Corey Liuget go to the Rams for the 15th mock draft in a row?

In the meantime, TST seems to be Blaine Gabbert fans in aggregate—he's gotten 43% of the popular vote in the aftermath of the pick, ahead of the 35% of votes for "They shouldn't select a QB with the first pick."
