St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke is in the news for another kind of football Monday morning—it's been reported by British news outlets that Kroenke is taking a controlling share in the Premier League soccer team Arsenal F.C., purchasing shares from Danny Fiszman and Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith that put his stake over 62%. From there he's required to bid on the remaining shares, and according to ITV Sport the bid values the club at £731 million.
↵Last year Arsenal was ranked as the third most-valuable football team in the world, behind only Manchester United and Real Madrid, with a value of £768 million. Kroenke has been building shares for an eventual takeover attempt since 2007, starting with a share just under 10%.
↵Arsenal joins a long list of Kroenke-owned clubs, including the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Avalanche, the MLS Colorado Rapids, and the Rams. For more information, check out our Colorado Rapids, Rams, and Arsenal blogs.
↵In the meantime, no word yet on whether he plans to move Arsenal to Los Angeles after their stadium deal runs out.
