2011 NFL Draft Results: New York Jets Pick Muhammad Wilkerson 30th Overall

In a 2011 NFL Draft teeming with defensive linemen the New York Jets grabbed one more DT from the pile, picking Muhammad Wilkerson of Temple with the 30th overall pick. Wilkerson, a junior, will have some time to develop behind Kris Jenkins according to Andy Hutchins, which should help him whip his 6’5", 305-pound frame into NFL shape. Teams worry about his conditioning, but they love his size.

Mocking The Draft was a fan in their scouting report last month, seeing a lot of projectability in his frame and his technique. They’d like to see him “learn to play with his natural length advantage” to improve his pass rush, but they like his ability to get into the backfield.

Gang Green Nation likes the pick, and thanks the early run on quarterbacks for making it possible, although blogger John B reports some chants of “Da’Quan Bowers!” before the pick was finally made.
