St. Louis Rams Might Leave Fendi Onobun, Off Roster

It's hard to do much thinking about the St. Louis Rams' roster situation with the NFL Lockout still in motion, but such is the life of a football fan after the end of the world. May 21 has come and gone and the most pressing topic of discussion remains whether or not Fendi Onobun, the Rams' super-raw tight end prospect from last year's draft, will be able to withstand the headwind that followed the Rams' second-round selection of a third tight end in two years, Lance Kendrick.

TST is uncertain, having noted that the New England Patriots, while running the two-tight-end system the Rams are keen on concocting, only kept three around. Which would be, at last count, Kendrick, Hoomanawanui, and one of the veterans.

Onobun is far, far away, so far as anyone can tell, from contributing in the NFL, but his physical credentials make it hard for anybody to resist dreaming on him—he's the ultimate Tools Goof. But if the Rams are forced to put him on the practice squad they might not be able to keep him on it for long enough to watch him develop.
