It’s difficult to get more unequivocal about Michael Floyd spurning the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft in favor of a return to Notre Dame than coach Brian Floyd did for IrishCentral Thursday, saying, “there is no suspension, there is no sit for one game” in their plan for Floyd, and that if he avoids any additional mistakes like the DUI that nearly cost him the final year of his college career he’s expected to play in every game of the Fighting Irish’s 2011 season. Before he didn’t declare, Floyd was considered a first round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, often mocked to the St. Louis Rams.
After the DUI and his indefinitely short suspension from Notre Dame, a trip to the NFL Supplemental Draft seemed likely. But as the supplemental draft returns to the news with Terrelle Pryor’s determination to participate in it, it’s clear Floyd will be able to return to college for his last year, as he originally anticipated.
