This is one of the stranger stories I can recall in the long annals of strange offensive coordinator stories—not only is Josh McDaniels, the St. Louis Rams' erstwhile genius, already re-entrenched with the New England Patriots, he's likely to take his captive star wide receiver, Brandon Lloyd, with him. I can't blame Lloyd for it—his career has clearly been animated by his ability to learn McDaniels's system, and he thrived within it even when the Rams were unimaginably bad at implementing it.
↵But has this happened before? Do offensive coordinators usually ensnare satellites that are more valuable to the team they end up with than their own offensive scheme? I can't figure out, if things work out according to plan, whether the Patriots just signed Brandon Lloyd and got Josh McDaniels for free or picked up Josh McDaniels and got, as a special bonus, the Brandon Lloyd adaptor at half-price.
↵Who's the Jack Haley to whom's Dennis Rodman here?
