Sam Bradford injury news returns, quietly, as St. Louis Rams face Miami Dolphins

Sam Bradford apparently has a knee problem. It won't keep him out of the St. Louis Rams' Week 6 meeting with the Miami Dolphins, but it's still scary.

Sam Bradford has a knee injury. We don't know why or how much, as it were, but he showed up on the St. Louis Rams' Friday injury report, and Kellen Clemens took a few snaps just in case in practice. The news is less worrying than a recurrence of the high ankle sprain that ended his abortive 2011 season, but it's still a frightening reminder that Sam Bradford is hit early and often behind an offensive line that doesn't have much going for it. He's almost certain to start and play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, but that's all we know.

Bradford's in the midst of a weirdly passable third season as the Rams' starting quarterback; he's been brilliant, as in Week 2 vs. the Washington Redskins, but most of the time he's combined it with stretches of general offensive incompetence, as when he made 13 consecutive pass attempts on Thursday without completing a pass.

For the first time in a year it looks, here in Week 6, like Sam Bradford is starting to make some progress. Injury news is the last thing that storyline needed, so here's hoping this is little more than some Jeff Fisher brinksmanship as Bradford's rookie quarterback tour continues with Ryan Tannehill.
