Rams vs. 49ers score update: St. Louis leads San Francisco at halftime, 14-7

The St. Louis Rams hold a 14-7 halftime lead over the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, Calif. Jonathan Quick and Steven Jackson found the end zone for the Rams in the first half.

Early in the first quarter, Quick was the recipient of a 36-yard touchdown pass from Sam Bradford to cap a six-play, 66-yard drive. Eight minutes later, Jackson's 7-yard scoring run gave the Rams a two-score lead.

San Francisco answered with a touchdown at the 8:18 mark in the second quarter on Alex Smith's 14-yard pass to Michael Crabtree. Smith left the game following the scoring drive with a concussion that was apparently sustained on a hit by Vaughn Dunbar earlier in the possession. He was 7 for 8 for 72 yards and a touchdown upon exiting.

The Rams were faced with the task of having to punt from their own end zone shortly before halftime, which would have given the 49ers an opportunity to put more points on the board. However, the Rams instead succeeded on an attempted fake punt, moving the ball to the St. Louis 31-yard line.

Bradford completed 6-of-10 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown in the half, while Jackson carried the ball 12 times for 56 yards and a score.
