Danny Amendola injury: Fantasy football owners rejoice, the reception guy is back

It's okay, fantasy football fans: If the St. Louis Rams activate Danny Amendola Sunday, they'll immediately start throwing to him.

Jeff Curry-US PRESSWIRE

The Danny Amendola injury report Friday afternoon will probably say he's questionable, and Jeff Fisher will probably say that he doesn't know whether Amendola will ever play again, let alone Sunday when the St. Louis Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers. But Amendola's practiced all week, and he was questionable two weeks ago. He wants to play, and he probably will. And if he will, I can say with 80-90 percent certainty that Sam Bradford will not be able to resist throwing to him.

Amendola, after all, missed almost all of last season after dislocating his elbow in the 2011 opener. In Week 1 of 2012 Sam Bradford targeted him nine times—and then 16 times in Week 2. In his four full games this year, Amendola was always targeted at least nine times; he'd been targeted five more before he injured his collarbone against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.

Sam Bradford doesn't know how to not throw to Danny Amendola. If he can get reps, he'll get targeted. The good news for other fantasy football owners is that Bradford will keep throwing to Brandon Gibson and Chris Givens; the Amendola Targets are coming from Steve Smith, Austin Pettis, and the other methadone slot receivers to which Bradford has reluctantly been going. Take it from Turf Show Times: Now is your chance to get Amendola'd.
