Laurent Robinson Gets Huge Contract, Somehow; Jacksonville Jaguars, St. Louis Rams Connected Again

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan once nearly bough the St. Louis Rams, so I'm confused as to why he's now paying Laurent Robinson as though he never watched him play before 2011. Robinson got a five-year, $32 million deal as NFL free agency began, and even keeping the NFL's confederate-money unguaranteed contracts in mind that's a significant payday for a guy who was among the very worst wide receivers in football in 2010.

Surely Shahid Khan watched as Robinson failed to crack the rotation of a team as desperate for solid wide receiver play as the 2010 Rams, right? And then when that same team, even more desperate for receivers, didn't even bother returning his calls the next year?

Now, Robinson was, admittedly, among the very best in 2011, but I find that so strikingly difficult to comprehend that, if I were the Jaguars, I would have felt considerably better about just donating all the money I planned on spending on Laurent Robinson to AIDS research and calling it a day.
