The St. Louis Rams will not use the franchise tag this offseason, according to NBC Sports. The Rams, already embroiled in a scandal with the Gregg Williams bounty system news, have chosen to tread lightly in the free agent market.
The Rams have a number of potential free agency targets, such as WR Brandon Lloyd (article) -- who was considered a possible franchise tag candidate -- and DT Albert Haynesworth (article). Instead of forcing Lloyd or any other Rams to stay, it appears the new management is more interested in selling potential free agents on the notion that the team can have a quick rebuild under new head coach Jeff Fisher.
