It's easy, when making a mock draft, to feel a need to fight consensus—to say, "Everyone may think the Indianapolis Colts want Andrew Luck, but I know better." In our treatment of Ryan Tannehill, still in free fall, we are—admittedly—doing just that. But sometimes there's just no need to mess with consensus. With that in mind, we're picking Dontari Poe to go to the Dallas Cowboys at No. 14.
Wait—there's some weird smokescreen thing where the Cowboys may or may not be interested in Poe after all? Crap—well, that's what you get for doing this sort of thing ahead of time.
In all seriousness, this is both why it's hard to pay attention to so much draft chatter and why you shouldn't necessarily do it. That the Cowboys are avoiding Poe can be both evidence he will be selected and evidence he won't should be just enough evidence to get you skeptical whenever a sportswriter claims to know what lurks in the hearts of men, or even Jerry Jones.
