2012 NFL Mock Draft, Round 1: Rams Select OT Matt Kalil At No. 6 In Final SB Nation Mock

The 2012 NFL Draft starts on Thursday night at 7 p.m. central time with Round 1 at Radio City Music Hall, and the St. Louis Rams hold the No. 6 overall pick after their blockbuster trade with the Washington Redskins earlier in the offseason. New general manager Les Snead has his work cut out for him in St. Louis, and the Rams have been linked to blue chip prospects like Morris Claiborne, Justin Blackmon and Trent Richardson over the past few weeks, but those players are projected to be off the board by No. 6 in SB Nation's latest 2012 NFL Mock Draft.

The managing editor of Turf Show Times -- SB Nation's Rams blog -- and SB Nation NFL contributor Ryan Van Bibber is at the draft and has spoken with Mike Mayock of the NFL Network and NFL Films legen Greg Cosell, so he's loaded with information. He believes the Rams are primed to select USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil with the No. 6 pick under this scenario:

6. St. Louis Rams, Matt Kalil, OT, USC

If this is how the first five picks shake out, the Rams would be best advised to take Kalil. Will they? I don't know. Fisher has never picked an offensive lineman in the first round of he draft.

Kalil is listed as the top offensive tackle prospect in the 2012 NFL Draft, according to Mocking The Draft.
