2012 NFL Draft Results: St. Louis Rams Select RB Isaiah Pead With No. 50 Overall Pick

With the 50th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams have selected Isaiah Pead, a running back out of the University of Cincinnati. This 2012 NFL Draft result mostly falls in line with expectations; most evaluators thought that Pead would be taken somewhere between the second and fourth rounds -- a wide range due to his lower ranking among the running backs in the 2012 class.

Pead finished his four year career at Cincinnati with two straight 1000+ yard seasons and over 3300 yards total. He also showed competence catching the ball out of the backfield with over 700 yards of receiving offense in his four years.

The Rams' next selection will be the second pick (No. 65 overall) in the third round. Pead becomes the second offensive player the Rams have drafted so far, along with WR Brian Quick. The team has also drafted DT Michael Brockers and CB Janoris Jenkins.
