Jason Smith Now Set To Frustrate, Confuse New York Jets Fans

St. Louis Rams fans have been trying to deal with Jason Smith angst for three years now, as worry about the former No. 2 overall pick has shifted from concern over his concussion problems to concern over his overall upside to confusion as to how he was ever the second overall pick in the draft. Now New York Jets fans get to have the same carousel of unfortunate emotions, though things will probably play out in a much more compressed way—my guess is that he'll have a good game or two, then get concussed right as people begin to worry about his overall upside.

According to Turf Show Times, it looks like neither team has their new offensive lineman playing a big part in their projected offense. But I have to wonder about the wisdom of trading Smith, who's at least shown flashes of adequacy, for Hunter, who was statistically one of the worst linemen in football last year. That doesn't seem quite worth the couple-million-bucks that the Rams are going to save on the deal.

If any Jets fans are here, incidentally, please let me save you some time: Just assume Jason Smith is going to disappoint you, even when he's not disappointing you.
