St. Louis Rams Depth Chart: Rokevious Watkins Could Start As O-Line Attrition Continues

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is just days away from the start of his third NFL season, and he still isn't sure who all is going to be protecting him. Left guard, where rookie Rokevious Watkins could be in line to earn immediate playing time, is the team's biggest question mark.

Ryan Van Bibber at Turf Show Times gives the edge to Watkins over veteran Robert Turner. The Rams have shed some familiar names at offensive line with the recent trade of first-round (it's safe to say at this point for Rams fans) bust Jason Smith to the New York Jets and the release of veteran Quinn Ojinnaka.

That leaves little depth, especially at left guard. Van Bibber uses a Jeff Fisher radio-interview quote to point out that Watkins could be the starter, mainly due to FIsher basically calling Turner a valuable backup:

"He's extremely valuable because he can backup center and play guard," Fisher said of Turner. "The concern you have sometimes ... if you take your guy that's the backup center and you put him at guard and you have a problem, you got a problem."

The Rams open the 2012 season noon Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
