Sam Bradford Singles Out Steve Smith For Praise As St. Louis Rams' Opener Nears

The St. Louis Rams' wide receiver corps is a fantasy football wasteland in part because their receivers aren't very good. Another reason: Nobody knows which kind-of-good receiver Sam Bradford will throw to. The obvious choice—Danny Amendola—has some use in point-per-reception leagues, but KMOX's Nathan Grimm has Bradford singling out Giants Steve Smith for praise in a brief practice note ahead of Week 1.

If you're desperate enough to be looking through St. Louis Rams wide receiver kremlinology ahead of the first week of the NFL season—well, godspeed. But already Giants Steve Smith—and no, I won't stop calling him that—seems like a better veteran bet than Jaguars Mike Sims-Walker, provided he's able to remain healthy.

So there's that, at least. He should catch more than 11 balls for 139 yards in his first season with the Rams. As a possession receiver with an enormous season under his belt and a series of devastating injury problems, he's like a cross between Danny Amendola and Danario Alexander, which just makes me wish he were around to get hurt and miss most of the season during the Josh McDaniels era.
