The St. Louis Rams head to Detroit for the opening game of the season, with every expert picking the Lions to win. In what many seem to be predicting to be a blowout loss, the Rams are currently 7.5-point underdogs heading into the weekend.
NFL.com writers Dan Hanzus, Gregg Rosenthal and Marc Sessler were all in agreement that the Lions will be the victors.
All 14 of ESPN's experts, including their Accuscore predictor, are calling for the Rams to lose on Sunday against the Lions.
CBS Sports experts — eight humans and one "Machine" — agree as well.
The Rams, apparently, do not stand a chance against Detroit. Joel Thorman, in his picks for SB Nation this week, explains why he expects the Rams to lose -- although he doesn't expect it to be quite so lopsided as some.
Four years ago, the Lions were 0-16 and the Rams were 2-14. The Lions have gotten a lot better; the Rams have not. Detroit's the clear favorite in this game, one of the biggest lines of the week at 7.5 points. I'm one of few people who believe the Rams will be much better this year, like possibly Wild Card better. But Sunday will not be one of those days.
Score: 35-28
The Rams kick off the 2012 season against the Detroit Lions on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT on FOX.
